Writing SamplesE-newsletter SamplesHR Week is a weekly enewsletter with a circulation of over 300,000. The aim of the publication is to draw subscribers to content on the SHRM web site (and, also, to bring in advertising revenue for the Society). It consistently rates as one of the top three benefits cited by SHRM members. For the past three years, I have written and edited every issue of the publication, and, until March 2007, had responsibility for production and design as well.
In addition to HR Week, I also created nine other e-newsletters for the Society. After writing and producing the first several issues of each, they were handed off to other editors. A sample of one these is below.
Note: Because of the Society's content management system, URLs change as articles "age." Thus, some of the links in these newsletters may lead to 404 pages. This was not the case when the newsletters were launched. Additionally, many of the links point to content that is "member only" and requires a SHRM ID to access.
Multimedia SamplesThe HR Week Podcast launched in 2007, and now has more than 1,000 weekly downloads. Each week, I'm responsible for creating the line up, writing or adapting all the items in the script, editing all audio files, mastering the final program, modifying the XML feed for iTunes and creating corresponding program pages. The links below point to MP3 files.I produce SHRM's webcast/webinar series. The Society produces 45 webcasts per year for its general membership, and an additional 25 programs for volunteer leaders, purchasers of particular products, etc. For the general series, I have responsibility for identifying and booking guest speakers (all of whom appear on a pro bono basis), publicizing the events, uploading material to the webcast interface, and moderating the live event. These are created exclusively for SHRM members. The links bypass the SHRM member login, however, you must login with a name and email address to view the webcast.
